Self-awareness is a hot topic these days and to be honest I thought I knew everything about myself, I mean what more could you know? I had surpassed my youth, graduated from college, had a career, two kids and had been married for a decade.
Well, at the ripe old age of 35, I entered what I am referring to as my mid-life crisis. Now for many, or so I have been lead to believe, a mid-life crisis is a horrible thing. It is a time where people struggle and resolve to find themselves, often at a loss. While this is true even in my story, I believe it to be one of the most exciting times in my life. Or so I am telling myself. Life is a journey and this is just a part of it.
To be honest, I just wish I could have started sooner. You see, I believe we all have an art, purpose, value, special gift. But for many of us, that gift is left unfound or not attended to. One of my goals is to help others find this gift and the only way I know how to do that is to unapologetically be myself (or yourself), hence #DoYou.
#DoYou is a reminder that you are a gift and that you do not need not be anything more or else. I firmly believe that in order to make the impact we all have a desire to make and live our best lives, we need to be shamelessly ourselves. Be selfish in order to be selfless. Filling other’s cup authentically can only be done when yours is full first.
In the summer of 2019, with this in mind, I became a certified Lumina Learning practitioner. As a result, I am now qualified to help individuals and organizations transform their lives and organizations by understanding themselves, those around them and the dynamics of their organization.
